Dedicated to the memory of Matilda (Tilly) Vick

This dedication page has been set in very loving memory of Matilda (Tilly) Vick. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother to a growing family, whom she adored.

Tilly made a huge and positive difference to many people's lives, not just in the family. She worked tirelessly to help people every day and was an active member of community, voluntary and church groups.

As a Mum, she was treasured, and her sense of fun continues through the generations. We will never forget the frequent times Mum collapsed into giggles (sometimes at inappropriate times!), setting us all off, until we ended up in a heap crying with laughter at the silliest things. She was a best friend, confidante and support.

Sadly, Tilly leaves behind John, her husband of 63 years, Tony and Sue, her children. Also (in order of age): James, Tom, Chris, Hilary, Frances, Pippa, David, Robert, and not forgetting Nick - her much loved grandchildren. Also (again in order of age): Jamie-Leigh, Lucas, Ellie, Harry, Finley, Chloe and Albie - the great grandchildren Tilly was blessed with and always asked after.

As Tony and Sue grew up and were less dependent on her, Tilly learned new skills. She learned different flower arranging techniques, used mainly being a regular contributor to the church flowers and also successful competition work. She excelled at formal cake decorating, particularly intricate wedding cakes, which she made and decorated for others for pleasure.

In her later years, Tilly enrolled in a City & Guilds course in embroidery. She had always enjoyed sewing crafts of all sorts, whether knitting or fine embroidery work. She passed her C&G course, and we were so proud of her to learn so many new skills. She also took up watercolour painting. All this, as well as her volunteering work, and, of course, her gardening.

None of us have had much opportunity to spend time with Tilly in her last few months. The times John and Sue had with her during the socially-distanced weekly visits were always fun. We shall particularly miss the sing-songs - the three of us completely out of tune, belting out of such favourites as We'll Meet Again, Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit Bag and Que Sera Sera (a particular favourite) and not caring who heard or who joined in!

We have asked for no flowers for Tilly's funeral. If you remember her and would like to add a tribute of your own to this website that would be lovely - donations are at your own discretion and not compulsory. We have chosen the Royal School of Needlework as the beneficiary to any donations, as Mum was very supportive of the charity during her life.

May God bless you, and may you rest in peace, my darling Mum.
